December 1949–Hagerstown. Me and the Man! At four years old, believing in Santa Claus was still exciting.
December 2023– Seventy-four years later, no longer believing in Santa, I still love the good cheer of the Christmas season.
For the past three years, visiting the Festival of Lights at Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina, it’s impossible not to tumble into the spirit of the holiday season.
For us, Brookgreen is more magical than Disneyland for Kathy and me.
Chip’s painting of Hillsboro in the snow and a December full moon a few years back was one of the town’s Christmas cards this year.
